A move to new Russian team Katusha next season did not get in the way of Filippo Pozzato’s teams on the Liquigas cycling team as they help propel him to the first Golden Jersey of the Vuelta. Perhaps the power of the new mustache helped get the win, but the margin as seen below was more than a hair. The Liquigas team worked well over a short 7.7km course throught he streets of Granada Spain. The city course was technical with several turns and slick spots. Teams with GC contenders such as CSC- Saxobank and Astana placed within 3 seconds of each other. That is a good start for Carlos Sastre and Alberto Contador who look to be the main protagonist for the Golden Jersey.

Poor Man’s Wind Tunnel

Sometimes you want the thrill of speed without all of the effort to make the bike go fast. This video could be called “Silly Cyclist” or “Poor Man’s Wind Tunnel”. Not sure if this video is 100% real though.

World’s Steepest Hills

Checkout some of the steepest hills in the world. These hills top out at 37%.

Canton Ave in Pittsburg has the steepest grade but is not in the Guinness Book as the steepest.

Other streets included are Fargo Street in Los Angeles with a 32% steep grade.

One man built an ultra climbing bike with adjusted stems, seat angles and ultra low gearing.

Cancellara and Armstrong score Gold in Olympic TT

Cancellara has the form now with a Gold medal performance at the Olympic Time Trial in Beijing. The Gold follows a Bronze in the Olympic Road Race where Cancellara used his devastating burst of speed to bridge a gap from the peloton to the winning breakway group.

After twice being beaten by Stefan Schumacher in the Tour de France Cancellara must be particularly happy to pass the German racer on the way to scoring a Gold medal.
