BINGHAMTON, NY (November 13, 2006) – Eventual 8th place finisher, Mike Kumiega (RUUD Racing) took the hole-shot, but Ted King (Priority Health) took the reigns quickly, and never looked back. It’s probably a good thing he didn’t, because he would have seen Cory Burns (Fiordifrutta) chasing within 20 seconds for the entire race. Matt Dickinson (Placid Planet) solidified his position in 3rd after being over-taken by Burns inside the opening laps.

Pierre Roussel (U of R / VC Chaumontais), the leader of the 2006 Louis Garneau Central New York Cyclocross Series going into today’s race, found himself off the podium for the first time in the series, finishing 4th. Roussel wouldn’t be denied the overall series championship. Paul Komanecky (Preferred Care), stayed in contact with Roussel for an extended period, but after crashing multiple times on the slick course, and with ensuing mechanical issues, he faded to 6th behind Jeremy Gardner (Michelin). Behind Gardner and Komanecky, Mike Kumiega was being pursued by Scott Hannan (SpokePost.com) and Geoff Bergmark (SpokePost.com).
In the Masters Men’s race, the race organizer, Karl Faruzel raced neck-in-neck with Glen Swan – and in the end, Karl, with a big “K-O” took the victory. Swan kept the pressure on all the way to the finish. The overall leader in the masters series, Andy Melnychenko, failed to find his way to the start line today – but still took overall victory for the series.
