Tom Boonen took his first victory while wearing his world champion’s jersey. He won the Amstel Curacao Race in the Dutch Antilles.

This vacation race included Paolo Salvodelli and Peter Weening. The results of this race can be taken much like those post-Tour Criteriums where the winner always seems to be either a hometown hero or someone who did well in the Tour. They are done mostly for show and the results are not taken seriously. Much like Pro Wrestling…
There is a website about the event and it looks like the riders are having some fun. Boonen even had a Quick-Step diving suit.

Not sure if this points to Boonen’s plans after he retires at age 30. Does the Belgian Milatry have room for Boonen as a Navy SEAL?
