Heras Tests Positive!

Roberto Heras has apparently tested positive for EPO usage in stage 20 of the Vuelta a Espana from Guadalajara and Alcala de Henares.
Liberty Seguros released the information because of press leaks about the positive test. The Team will not take action against Heras’ contract unless the ‘B’ sample comes back positive. Heras just won his fourth Vuelta this year while overcoming a bad crash. Liberty-Seguros is confident that Heras “would be able to prove his innocence”.
In my opinion, a rider that tests positive (both A and B sample) should be banned for life, not 2 years. In order to clean up doping, especially in endurance sports, we need stricter penalties. Not to mention more oversight into the operations of team doctors…
