Yahoo! Sports – Cycling – Heras seizes overall lead in Tour of Spain
Roberto Heras is on his way to claiming another Vuelta title with an impressive performance in todays stage. Heras took a page out of the Postal/Discovery plan book by using his team Liberty Seguros to set a blistering pace up the final mountain climb. The pace was strong enough to eliminate most of the major contenders with Denis Menchov being the final rider to crack. No one could keep up with Heras’ constant accerlarations which obliterated the field. It could yet be an early move, but Heras is in a good position overall at the moment.
In other news Floyd Landis abandoned the Vuelta during today’s stage.
