The San Francisco Grand Prix Bike Race has a new title sponsor in Barclays Global Investors. This means the race will take place. The race is a jewel for the Domestic Pro Tour circuit. Some big name riders will be there including Ivan Basso and David Zabriske of CSC and as always Georgie Hincapie. So why is OLN not covering this race???

The Barclays Global Investors Grand Prix, known as ‘America’s toughest bike race,’ will bring several of this summer’s Tour de France top performers and other key professional cyclists to San Francisco on Sunday, Sept. 4 for the fifth version of the popular race.

The Discovery Channel team’s George Hincapie, winner of the inaugural race in 2001 and the winner of the Tour’s most difficult mountain stage last month will lead his team in San Francisco. Ivan Basso, who finished second overall to the Discovery Channel’s Lance Armstrong at the Tour, will head the CSC team, along with David Zabriskie, who won the opening time trial at the Tour and became just the third American to ever wear the Tour’s yellow jersey.
