The “toughest man in the peloton” Alexandre Vinokourov won the final stage into Paris. The Kazak rider was gunning to knock off Levi Leipheimer for fifth spot. Vino was able to draw even on time with Levi at an earlier intermediary sprint, and would need something extra to take over fifth spot.

Vino shadowed a move by Bradley McGee just inside the last few kilometers. Once McGee was out of gas, Vino cam around and got the win. It was a gutsy move that foiled a traditional sprinter’s finish.
